To A Simply Luxurious 2012

Simply Luxurious: Louis Vuitton Core Values featuring Andre Agassi & Steffi Graf

It’s been a while since the last post, and now it’s already 2012. Happy Belated New Year :)

It’s the start of 2012 and I think it is a good time to think about your resolution & plans.

We’re not going to discuss about men’s style & fashion today. This is a rather insightful and self-reflective post. It is about building a foundation for a stylish, tasteful & fulfilling life.

The Fundamental of a Simply Luxurious Life

The phrase “simply luxurious” is taken from my newly discovered blog, TheSimplyLuxuriousLife.com. It is a blog that talks about what its title says: how to live a simple, contented, sensible & luxurious life. It is a blog targeting the ladies so I’ll just pick the relevant pieces of my interest.

Growing off the initial mission statement (read more at About), our first and the only item on the list for 2012 is to live a simply luxurious life.

Don’t Judge a book by its Cover

Let’s start with an old quote. You’ll see the relevancy later.

A little question to ponder… Why do you think a book needs a cover?

I think the most common reason is so that people can identify the book without the need to read through the pages. Apart from protecting the book from the elements, it lets people who are new to the book to easily gauge the content they can expect from the book.

Basically, a cover is a representation of a book.

Human are similar to books, and the frequent use of this quote on people since the old time isn’t coincidental.

We are books, and fashion is the book’s cover.

So often we see fashion lovers talk about trends, runways, fashion shows, models, color blocks, prices and great sartorial taste. We often share our favourite brands, where to get them, where to buy online, favourite magazines & youtube fashion videos. And I always love to express my ideas here on my favourite shoes, bags, photo-shoots and looks.

Last December, a question popped up in my mind: “How much of those things that I put onto my body represents me?”

How much of my fashion style represents me?

How much of my cover represents my book?

I’m easily distracted by shiny things, and I’m always keen to explore new trends and find out what’s out there for a man to wear & what are the affordable alternatives that I can buy. Along the way, I realised some people tend to focus on the fashion items more than themselves: they love the trends, they love the items, they want to own the items, and they love to put them on their body. Somehow, the other elements in life were missing in the search of great style & fashion item. The words printed on the pages in the books were forgotten. The content was taken for granted.

In reality, effortlessly chic works the other way round. Great style comes from people who embrace their life, appreciate the loved ones, strive to improve themselves intellectually & spiritually, and from people who exudes positive energy to the world and to the people around them. When they have such great contentment, their great style & taste will come along. That is why they can rock fantastic unique looks most of us adore. They are not the usual trend followers.

How much of your cover represents you?

That is the foundation of a simply luxurious life.

Style & fashion with Contentment. Enriching life with True style.

In 2012 and the years to come, I’ll work more on improving the book while at the same time keep polishing the cover so that both of them are complementing each other.

We will continue to churn out great content, and we hope you’d share more with us, whether your book or your cover.

Here’s the meaningful part suggested by the blog (mentioned above):

“Design” your life and create your new year resolution by answering the following 3 questions:

  1. What do you want your life to look like?
  2. What do you want to feel in your being as you go about your day?
  3. What energy do you want to project into the world and upon others around you?

Try these questions and I hope you’ll find inspiration as much as I did.

It’s been a long way and I thank you for reading and following this blog.

Before I sign off, here’s a short film by Louis Vuitton which I personally find inspirational.
I wish you a prosper and a happy 2012!
