Really interested to see how she turned into a legend in the industry.
In the korean movie “200 Pounds Beauty”, the extremely obese main lady underwent a hair-to-toe surgical makeover in order to gain confidence and later to win her love.
Even though I still haven’t watched the movie, I’m already very moved by one of the soundtracks named “Byul” (translate: “Star”) covered by the lead actress herself. (Surprisingly, the lead actress can sing very well o_o.)
Hanna the main character is a girl who really can sing, deserves a recording contract, as well as her love. But the only problem is her low self-confidence caused by her look.
I think using cosmetic surgery to improve the look is one thing, but maybe to improve confidence is another.
Here’s the clip from the movie I’ve been watching in these few days over and over again:
OMG. YASMIN IS DEAD.
SIGH…
Malaysian film director Yasmin Ahmad collapsed today and is now in coma.
Dear God, please save this beautiful soul who made wonderful movies. I really like her work Talentime, and I think she must have inspired many other Malaysians. Besides, I’m just about to name her My Favourite File Director. It’d be my great loss if she decided to go.
On her blog, she said she’s going to use an opera song in the ending of her upcoming project.
Let’s be silent, and enjoy her selection for a moment:
Men are generally classified into a few categories:
- the Alpha males – men who are powerful or having a high social position, e.g. the successful males, the leaders, the bosses. They generally are dominant males with good looks, leadership, authority and financially rich or stable. Often tagged as “the successful men” in the society, or “the perfect guys” that most females would like to marry.
- the Beta males – second to Alpha males. They are the second in command after Alphas. Physical appearance, leadership, authority and financial status is lower than the Alphas, but they have the potential to replace and become Alphas.
- the Gamma – males not classified as Alpha or Beta. In other words, the average men.
Which class are you? Hah.
Just watched the movie “Knowing”. Not very interesting, but it’s enough to fill your appetite if you would like to watch just a normal thriller.
The only surprise you’ll get is like what Dennis said – “Normally this kind of movie will have a hero to save the world. But this one, the hero died.”
So I think the hero have got to be the aliens who saved some of the humans. Ahem.
In this film, the prediction of the future comes in the form of numbers. In Heroes the popular series, it comes in the form of paintings (e.g. Isaac painted the future), and in some other films I’ve watched, it comes in the form of dreams -
the prediction are all in the form of either numbers or visual representation.
I’m wondering if there’s other forms of prediction…
Finally Bangi has its own Old Town. That’s our Sunday Breakfast spot today. Baby auntie’s spur-of-the-moment candid shot haha…
She said she’s made a terribly wrong mistake in her life: “I should have gone to do video-shooting you know?!?! Ah I’m so talented!!!”. Haha. Zha-dao. Videos taken by iPhone 3G by the way.
My cousin’s doing a small business recently. She’s very good in making paper flowers and sewing small cute fluffy puppets. Something like those toys selling on
dooodolls and
toki-doki. But hers are all very personalized: each toy only has one of its kind. There are no two the same.
Can’t believe she can really do something like that. Amazing… Feel motivated by her already. Hmm…
Part of her toys for sale.
I found this one very cute lo.
Really look like xiu-mai 烧卖, and sometimes look like wan-tan 云吞.
“爱心烧卖”. Must be it.
This one looks better than dooodolls. It’s finely sewn.
Should check her website out if you’re looking for gifts for gf/bf
Coincidentally, found dooodolls in MPH Mid Valley today.
Maybe my cousin can’t fight with dooodolls in terms of branding, but in terms of uniqueness then maybe can win. Haha.
Yasmin Ahmad’s “Talentime” is really great! For me – totally inspiring and touching.
I paid full attention from the very start of the movie till the end. Audiences were made laughing and crying – and sometimes coughing – along the story line.
(Ahem, she did a good job in including controversial and potentially-censored malaysian issues in there.)
It brought back a lot of my memories during high school. Personally, feeling related to the story’s interracial marriage issue – hah, my dad and my mom.
Anyway, this film shows how the contemporary Malaysia is looking like.
Not a fan of her before this, but I did hear about her works a few years back, and now I’m starting to like her. I’d see her as a storyteller more than a director. Going to look for her previous works at movie stores. She’s juuuuust brilliant.
