HOME Sg Chua

Oct 05 2009 2:43 pm Published by Sir Mayo under food, general

I felt the need to go out and stick around at night.

Where am I heading to?

A hidden gem called “Home” restaurant. It’s at the middle of nowhere, but somewhere in Kajang Sungair Chua. The idea is… I never thought there’s something like this there.

The owner of the shop was over there. She used to be a designer. You can tell from the interior design of the restaurant.

Living in a small town and doing a small business, far away from the big cities and opportunities – Maybe I’m still too young to comprehend.

Cutlery is as important as the Food

Many times I found myself fascinated by the beautiful cutlery more than the food served in the restaurants. And today it’s at Kabul.

I like heavy metal or porcelain cutlery.
Oh look at the lamp -

There’s a Gloria Jean’s Coffee downstair, but never really had a chance to be in there for a cup until this morning.

That little fern pattern is quite a surprise. Delighted, but still wondering if that’s where half of my RM8.90 went to. Or maybe the “With Milk” counts as well. Hmm.
“Gotcha!”
So I still love to play with camera. Ahem.
The Giraffe-shaped stone craft, which flew all the way from Africa (I remember “bandaging” it like crazy with tons of my t-shirts before putting in my luggage and left Africa) is now broken.
Seriously, it didn’t drop on the floor or crashed by something heavy. It merely gently fell down (e.g. from standing 90 Degree to zero degree) after I accidentally pushed it.
-_- Sigh. I just killed my favourite giraffe.
I wonder what will happen to real giraffes when they fall down.
I think their long necks might get twisted…

Last Sunday = Ikea + The Curve + Forrest Gump.
Ikea really look like a warehouse. No, Ikea is actually a warehouse. It is indeed a beautifully decorated one.
Forrest Gump: A film character which means a lot to me. I was particularly surprised and excited to find a restaurant built based on the film and him – Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
Did a little research on Wiki. The chain of seafood restaurants is totally inspired by the 1994 film. There we went, Captain Bubba!
“Run Forrest, RUN!” – Sometimes, running isn’t a bad resolve to problems.
Menu on a ping-pong bat; the action board; the costume used in the film, on the day Forrest met Jenny, and he said: “I had never seen anything so beautiful in my life. She was like an angel.” There are also his famous quotes painted on the walls in the restaurant.
Like the shrimps. But not really the cold cocktail type.
There’s singing band outside the restaurant, down the road at The Street. They were performing the song “You’re my everything”. It must have been really romantic moment for two. Aha! Too bad.

Today is 发记-day. It’s a tradition of almost 10 years. (More, or less? Not sure.)
发记 is like our family-trusted restaurant for normal saturday night dining, or even special event dining.
They just put on a new wall picture. 老妹 was criticizing the people in the picture, and questioning the logics behind.
It’s a good point that she found out all people drawn in the picture seems like having eyes all closed, and she described them as “having meal while sleeping”.
But I think maybe it’s because they all have small eyes and single eyelids le. The gene of small eyes and single-eyelid runs in the family. Aha!
See, my logic is better.

Can’t believe my sister’s stupid 2-month-old Macbook is dead.
Yes you heard me right – 2 MONTHS, and DEAD!
She kept restarting the macbook, but it kept on showing a folder with a question mark right at the middle of the screen. I asked her to do all those funny funny combination of emergency key-press e.g. Ctrl+Alt+”P”+”R”, or press-and-hold “Alt” right after restarting (man, Apple Engineers are so creative to come out with all those combinations!), but to no avail -
The folder was still there, and now it’s flashing!
Damn macbook is patronising lo!
ROAAARRRRRR!!!
For the first time in my life, I think Apple sucks big time -__-

I always thought macs are indestructible. But obviously I was wrong – it’s just like Windows. Haiya

*Sigh*

So now the macbook is in kilang, and we’ll be waiting for the Apple guy to ring us once it’s back to normal. But I doubt my sis will be able to see her biotech thesis in the macbook again :(

Ahem, maybe I think too highly of macs, probably to a degree of delusion already. In actual, they are still normal computers what… and computers can go wrong sometimes, right? Hmm, from now on I shall put them together with windows pc, and stop praising their beauty. Beauty can be deceiving.
Really hope to do something ( e.g. ) to that Machines store guy. He cannot smile one… don’t know why not friendly. Maybe he thought we tortured the macbook. Teehee!

Had lunch at Manhattan Fish Market. It’s sad how the food that looked so delicious 20 minutes ago looked so disgusting later. It’s the food’s portion problem, so we couldn’t finish everything.

老妹: “Can’t finish all le… so wasted. African kids don’t even have enough food lo…”
Me: “It’s ok… I’ve been there. They are not like what we saw on TV. Mind you, they have the nicest steak in the world!”
Hahaha. My imaginative conversation la.
老妹 said it’s expensive.
Reminder to myself: There’s no escargot there.

So we walked around in Mid Valley and saw a promotional booth selling imported Japanese snacks. I saw Meiji. I think it’s a very famous brand. Mika Nakashima advertised for them before.

Meiji Meiji. Not bad~
*I’ve got more, but that chocolate looks the best.
