Maatin Shakir Fall/Winter 2014 #KLFW

This was the debut runway collection of Maatin Shakir as a clothing designer, following his Pre-Fall 2014 mini collection, and his successful collaboration with Zakwan Anuar’s SS2014 earlier this year.

The debut collection was for the most part, a womenswear collection but it featured 3 looks for men. In his transition from shoe designing to RTW, he has retained his minimalism and elegance in the cut and the colour palette of his works. And much like us, he definitely has a thing for prints.Β Perhaps a thing for furs too!

What tugged my heartstrings:

DAT FUR CLUTH with side handle. YES. If you’re game, that actually looks quite unisex.

Shirt with prints. Was that paisley? No. The prints may look like a brain MRI scan (cue the model’s right bicep area) but that’s completely ok.

Super girl is about to take off! Cue the navy foliage prints. Tres chic. On an unrelated note, did it not remind you of china vase?

We saw more fun on the women’s looks than the men’s, but it’s understandable as the focus was more on the women’s this round. (Or will that always be the case in the future, Maatin?) Looking to see more works from our promising young talent.
